After being away I can distinctly pinpoint the things I miss and love about my home. The smell of grass and dirt and summer sun with the 24/7 soundtrack of cicadas and crickets that swell and echo through my house when the weather permits open windows. Really full and juicy summer clouds that hang low in the sky because it’s about to storm. The smell of post-rain water on asphalt. Baking sourdough bread and overeating avocados. Clean air! Our warm house in New Jersey sits at the nexus of all the overlapping spheres that I define as home…China, Taiwan, family, friends, my childhood, NYC, my dog….and it is good to be back. Here are some 35mm and digital photos from my two month vacation back in the suburbs.
